Departmental Professional Classifications

- Steadicam is related to after the listed of criteria for camera operators.
Criteria for each classification:
Admission criteria for registration as 1st Camera Operator
- Minimum of 3 full length films
- Minimum of 2 TV series
- Minimum of 6 TV dramas
- Minimum of 20 promo / advertising films
If the candidate has experience in any of these 4 criteria or a combination of them, the candidate may be registered as a 1st Camera Operator.
ACT union member wishing to change classification from Camera Operator to 1st Camera Operator
A camera operator with union membership wishing to change classification to 1st Camera Operator must present a request together with an updated professional CV which will be reviewed by the Cinematography representative in the Administrative Committee qualified to approve the request. The approving representative must be a 1st Camera Operator.
Initial ACT membership as a 1st Camera Operator
A candidate interested in joining the union as a 1st camera operator but who was not previously registered with the union as a camera operator will present an updated professional CV and additionally attach a selection of films that she or he filmed. The Cinematography Department’s representatives, who must be a 1st camera operator, is qualified to approve the candidate.
Admission criteria for registration as a Camera Operator
The candidate interested in being classified as a camera operator must submit the request form, which includes:
- 2 references who are union members and fill one of these roles: camera operator, head lighting engineer, head grip, assistant to 1st camera operator.
- Current professional CV.
Criteria for admission as Trainee Camera Operator
Candidates wishing to register with ACT but who have yet to prove their abilities in the film and TV industry can be listed as trainees for a period of 1 year, during which they can complete the necessary criteria allowing a change of classification from trainee to camera operator.

Criteria for Steadicam/ Trinity Operator
- Admission Request form

- Portfolio of work
- Test that is conducted by a Steadicam Operator and 1st / Camera Operator who serve as members of the Administrative Committee

- Steadicam membership will not cost more than a camera operator’s fee. This price does not include equipment.
- A Steadicam operator who wishes to join without traineeship must prove capability and undergo the approval process
