Terms of Admission – Camera Department
Departmental Professional Classifications
- Focus Puller
- Head of Camera Department
- Clapper Loader
- Digital Technician
The digital technician is not permitted to work as the sole assistant cameraperson on set.
Criteria for admission into the Union by classification:
Focus Puller Criteria
- Membership of at least 3 years in ACT’s Camera Department
- Classification Change request form.
- Current professional CV.
- Full participation as a focus puller in 2 large scale projects (feature / large scope drama / large scale TV series), filmed with one 35 mm camera (digital or film).
- Minimum of 90 days of filming work as a focus puller.
- List the names of photographers and department heads you worked with on these projects.
- 4 recommendations from ACT members: 3 head camera persons and 1 focus puller.
Head of Camera Department Criteria
- Membership of at least 3 years in ACT’s Camera Department
- Classification Change request form.
- Current professional CV.
- Full participation as head of the camera department in 2 large scale projects (reality program / large scale TV series / large scope drama).
- Minimum of 90 days of filming as head of the camera department.
- List the names of photographers and department heads you worked with on these projects.
- 4 recommendations from ACT members: at least 2 being camera persons and at least 1 head of camera department.
Clapper Loader Criteria
- Membership in ACT
- Classification Change request form.
- Current professional CV.
- Full participation in1 large scale project (feature / drama / TV series / reality, etc.).
- Minimum of 60 days of filming as assistant camera person.
- 3 recommendations from ACT members: at least 1 being head camera person and at least 1 head assistant camera.
Digital Technician Criteria
- Signature on form to joint ACT.
- Current CV.
- Preferable to include names of relevant recommendations who are ACT members.
