Criteria for Gaffer
- Classification Change request form
- Current professional CV.
- Minimum of 100 days of work as a Best Boy Lighting for series / dramas / features, of which there must be at least one full feature.
- 2 recommendations, only from gaffers who are also union members.
Criteria for Best Boy Lighting
- Classification Change request form
- Current professional CV.
- Minimum of 100 days of work as Assistant Lighting Technician, together with an updated list of productions and the name of the Gaffer on each production.
- 2 recommendations, only from gaffers who are also union members.
- Course qualification for working at heights.
Criteria for Assistant Lighting Technician
- Classification Change request form
- Current professional CV.
- Minimum of 60 days of work as a Trainee Lighting Technician, together with a list of productions and the name of the department head for each production.
- 2 recommendations from union members in the lighting department.
- Course qualification for working at heights.
Criteria for Trainee Lighting Technician
- Admission Request form
- Current CV.
- In any event a trainee cannot serve as the sole assistant to the Gaffer.
- Recommendations can only come from ACT union members.
- Admission certification will be provided by a member of the department serving in the Administrative Committee after checking that the candidate fulfills the criteria and confirmation by the recommenders.
- A personal meeting with the candidate may be requested based on the sole discretion of the approving committee representative.
