Criteria for classification as Head Sound Mixer
- The candidate must be a member of the union (ACT) registered as “sound mixer.”
- The candidate must have worked as a sound mixer for at least 3 full length films (features).
- The candidate must have worked as a sound mixer for at least 7 TV series or reality shows.
- Submit the Classification Change form signed by 2 sound engineers / photographers who are ACT members registered as heads, including their written recommendations.
A candidate wishing to be classified as head sound mixer must fulfill all criteria.
Criteria for classification as Sound Engineer
- The candidate must be a member of the union (ACT), working as a trainee sound mixer for more than a year or holds prior proven experience. This condition is obligatory for classification as a sound mixer.
- Current professional CV and list of works.
- Submit the Classification Change form signed by 3 referrals who you have worked with during the past two years, who attach their written recommendations, and who are ACT members from these departments: Sound / Photography.
- Interview with representative of ACT’s Sound Department.
The candidate wishing to be registered as a Sound Engineer must uphold all the criteria.
Criteria for classification as Boom Operator
- The candidate must be a member of the union (ACT), working as a trainee boom operator for more than 1 year. This condition is obligatory for classification as a boom operator.
- The candidate must have worked as a trainee boom operator for at least 90 days of filming.
- The candidate must submit 2 recommendations by head sound mixers / boom operators who are members of ACT and with whom he worked over the past two years.
- Current professional CV and list of projects.
Criteria for joining the classification of Trainee Sound Engineer
- Current CV.
- Remarks on the classification of Trainee Sound Engineer:
Trainees are not allowed under any circumstances to serve as the sole / head sound person in a production defined as top genre (full length film / TV series). Trainees are allowed to work during their first year at the lower scale of up to 30% of the minimum price determined by the union’s labor agreements.
Trainees in their first year will pay membership fees of 67% (insurance premiums will be paid in full at the trainee’s request).
At the end of the first year, full membership fees will be paid and the member will be required to work in accordance with the regular minimum prices in the production industry.
Criteria for joining the Trainee Boom Operator classification
- Current CV.
- Remarks on the classification of Trainee Boom Operator:
Trainee boom operators are not entitled under any circumstances to serve as sole / head boom operator in a production defined as top genre (full length film / TV series). Trainees are allowed to work during their first year at the lower scale of up to 30% of the minimum price determined by the union’s labor agreements.
