Trainee Criteria
- Request to Join form
- Current CV.
- In any event a trainee cannot serve as the sole location manager on filming days
Camp Manager Criteria
- Classification Change Form
- Current professional CV.
- Minimum of 20 days working as camp manager + list of productions and name of department head for each production
- 2 recommendations by head location managers who are union members
- Registered as a trainee
Location Scout Criteria
- Classification Change Form (it is not possible to initially join as a location scout)
- Current professional CV.
- Minimum of 30 days of work as camp manager + updated list of productions and name of head location manager for each production.
- 2 recommendations only from head location managers who are union members
- Registered with the union as a camp manager
Location Manager Criteria
- Classification Change Form (it is not possible to initially join as a location manager)
- Current professional CV.
- Minimum of 50 days of work as a location scout for series / dramas / features / advertising where at least one item is for a full length feature
- 2 recommendations from head location managers who are union members
Head Location Manager Criteria
- Classification Change Form (it is not possible to initially join as a head location manager)
- Current professional CV.
- Minimum of 50 days of work as a location manager for series / dramas / features / advertising where at least one item is for a full length feature
- 2 recommendations from head location managers who are union members
- A candidate newly joining can only register as a trainee
- Recommendations must be provided only by head location managers
- Approval is given by the relevant department representative in the Administrative Committee following checks that the candidate upholds the criteria and further to verification phone calls with the recommenders.
- A personal meeting with the candidate may be requested based on the approving representative’s considerations.
- A location scout who has fulfilled the criteria for classification change to location manager but was not registered as a location scout can work under special permit from the Administration as a location manager
- A location manager who has fulfilled the criteria for classification change to head location manager but was not registered as a location manager can work under special permit from the Administration as a head location manager
Camp Manager: operates under the Filming Locations Manager
Areas of responsibility:
- Setting up camp
- Ongoing cleaning of camp and set
- Distribution of communications devices and signing for them
- Changing communications devices batteries
- Trucks and set vehicles parking
- Blocking passers-by
- Checking weather forecasts as filming dates approach
- Signposting on set
- Necessary experience: 40 days of filming as assistant producer
Location Scout: operates under the Filming Locations Manager
Areas of responsibility:
- Identifying locations while giving consideration to the art and production needs
- Providing location alternatives
- Updating neighbors and businesses
- Coordinating and closing on contracts
- Coordinating and closing on production needs derived from the location tour after being briefed by the location manager
- Receiving permits from relevant parties
- Updating the camp manager and locations manager of location needs
- Coordinating with guards
- Seeking cover sets
- Receiving weather forecasts as filming dates approach
- Preparing maps and route explanations
- Overlap with location manager and camp manager
- Necessary experience: 60 days of filming as camp manager
Location Manager: operates under the active director
Areas of responsibility:
- Receiving briefs from the director, art director
- Receiving briefs from the producer on budgets
- Overlap scouter
- Leading the location tour
- Preparing camp lists based on location needs provided by the scouter
- Receiving lists of names and phone numbers of contact people for the location and cover set
- Receiving a list of names and phone numbers of drivers
- Receiving weather reports as filming days approach
- Necessary experience for a junior location manager (1-2 locations per day): 60 days of filming as a scout
- Necessary experience for a senior location manager: 60 days of filming as a location manager
