Departmental Professional Classifications

• Head Grip
• Best Boy Grip
• Assistant Grip
• Trainee Grip

 Head Grip: Criteria

• Classification Change request form
• Current professional CV.
• Minimum of 150 days of work as best boy grip in series / dramas / features, or minimum of 100 days of as best boy grip in advertisements.
• It is possible to integrate the two criteria by genre for total work days.
• 2 recommendations from head grips who are union members.

Best Boy Grip: Criteria

• Classification Change request form (it is not possible to join as best boy).
• Current professional CV.
• Minimum of 100 days of work as an assistant grip and an updated list of productions and name of the head grip for each production.
• 2 recommendations only from head grips who are union members.
• Union member registered as assistant grip.

Assistant Grip: Criteria

• Classification Change request form.
• Current professional CV.
• Minimum of 60 days of work as a trainee grip + list of productions.
• 2 recommendations by grips who are union members.
• Union member registered as trainee.

Trainee Grip: Criteria

• Classification Change request form.
• Current CV.

In any event a trainee cannot serve as the sole assistant to the head grip.

• A new member can only register as a trainee
• Recommendations can only be from head grips
